Does this actually upload my TIFF files anywhere?
No. The conversion library runs inside your browser tab using JavaScript, so the image data never crosses the network. You could turn off your Wi-Fi after the page loads and it would still work.
Does TIFF to JPG conversion lose any quality?
Visually, no, the tool re-encodes at high quality. Technically, JPG uses lossy compression and drops any CMYK or high bit depth color data down to standard RGB, so there’s a small, usually invisible amount of generation loss, the same as it would be with any converter.
Why did one of my files fail to convert?
Occasionally a TIFF is saved with an unusual internal compression method, like ZIP or a proprietary scanner codec, and this tool can’t unpack that specific one. Try re-exporting the file from whatever program created it. Most scanning software gives you an option to save without that extra compression.
